What should a freelance influencer marketing manager charge?

Freelance influencer marketing is sold three ways: a campaign, a month, or a piece of a campaign (the list, the deals). A working manager in New York charges about $2,500 to $8,000 to run one campaign from sourcing to the report.

Brands underpay this role when they think of it as coordination. It is sourcing, negotiation, paper and reporting; price each part and the whole reads as fair.

The menu

  • One creator campaign, sourcing to report: $2,500 to $8,000
  • Creator sourcing and shortlist only: $800 to $2,500
  • Negotiating and papering one deal: $400 to $1,000 per creator
  • Monthly program management: $3,000 to $8,000
  • Campaign report and wrap: $500 to $1,500
  • Strategy day or audit: $800 to $1,500

Never a percentage of creator fees

Some brands offer a cut of what the creators are paid. It puts you on the wrong side of the negotiation: the better you do for the brand, the less you make. A flat fee per campaign or per month keeps you on the brand's side, which is what they are paying for.

The program month

Monthly management is the roster kept warm, the outreach, the agreements, the tracking and the report, every month. That is what Company OS runs on for the brand's own team; a freelancer running it charges for the same work.
